six openings for films not yet made
Film openings are gambits that set tension and mood. An aesthetic of compression offering an invitation to unpack. We call these six our B movies: beeline, buzz, drone, hive, hum, swarm. Each title is a word that gestures towards our 5000 year-old relationship with bees. A bug pictured on the walls of prehistoric caves, Egyptian temples, medieval banners, state flags, corporate logos. These six offer a caution about how a historical imagination of self and society is projected onto a tiny animal and an opportunity to consider what is at stake, for whom, and at what cost.
